Music, sphere—descended maid,
Friend of Pleasure, Wisdom's aid!
Erwin F. Swindell, for the past seven years head of the piano department at
St. Ambrose, has merited for himself national prominence as a pianist, while his compositions have been enthusiastically received and favorably criticised by musical critics.
Professor Swindell studied first with Miss Marywood Chase of Chicago, who was for
fourteen years assistant to Oscar Raif of Berlin, and later entered the Rosseter G.
Cole School of Music, where he pursued his study in composition work. Here Mr.
Swindell was fortunate in and profited by having as an instructor one of the only
four Americans who have been admitted as members to the Royal Academy of Berlin.
