Thomas F. Chouteau
Mr. Thomas Chouteau received his B.A. from
St. Ambrose in 1951 as an art major and a
philosophy minor. On Sept. 17, 1959, he joined
the Fine Arts Department as an associate professor of art. In 1960, he began his graduate work
at the University of Iowa where his area of concentration was studio (prints) art history and in
1963, he received his M.A. degree. In Sept.
1966, he was assigned chairmanship of the Fine
Arts Dept.
In the 1968-1969 academic year at Ambrose,
he was kept busy as a member of the following
school organizations: Academic Senate, Program
Committee, Senate Sub-Committee on College
Objectives, and the Modern Art Club.
On the national level, Mr. Chouteau belongs to
the A.A.U.P., the Liturgical Art Society, and the
College Art Association. At the college, the periodic art exhibits that appear in the SAC library
are due to the efforts of Mr. Chouteau.
