The relative importance of news. (We gasp over the details of today's morbid crime--but pass over, unmoved, the announcement of discoveries that may tomorrow wipe out civilization.
Oh what a difference in politics. (A man who will cheat in golf is soon dropped from the popular foursomes; ball players who have taken bribes to throw a game are now tending bar; and college athletes who fail to live up to the highest standards of sportsmanship are blacklisted; but anything to win, from buying votes to murder, seems to be quite acceptable in politics.
