This house on 37th Street was built in 1910 and is still standing. It was the home of Charles S. Denman and his wife Anna. Mr. Denman was the secretary and general manager of the Des Moines Water Works Company.
In 1910 Mr. Herring and his wife Emma moved to this home in Des Moines. He was the president of Herring Motor Company. He became governor of Iowa in 1935 and served until 1943. He later served in the U.S. Senate from 1937 - 1943.
